Badger Cull Increases Cruelty Cases

This year will see two trial badger culls in Gloucestershire and Somerset in an effort to control the spread of bovine tuberculosis. This has started encouraging people to badger bait and other acts of cruelty. These acts are still illegal as with any other animal cruelty.

Prosecutions for cruelty to badgers have climbed annually from 2007 (30 cases). With the Protection of Badgers Act (1992), public are encouraged to report any crimes to their local Wildlife Crime Officer.
